Trim Path
Keeps the part of a frame's path between Start and End and hides the rest. Animate End from 0 to 1 to draw any frame out along its path.
Inputs
| Port | Type | Default | Range | Description |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Frame | Frame | — | — | The frame to trim |
| End | Scalar | 1.0 | 0–1 | Where the visible stretch ends, along the frame's total path length |
| Start | Scalar | 0.0 | 0–1 | Where the visible stretch begins. Nothing shows while Start is at or past End |
| Tail Fade | Scalar | 0.0 | 0–1 | Dims the visible stretch toward Start. 1 gives the strongest fade |
Outputs
| Port | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Frame | Frame | The visible stretch of the path |
Ideas
- Drive End with a Phasor to draw a shape out on a loop.
- Drive End with a Phasor and Start with the same Phasor minus a small offset (through an Arithmetic node) for a short stretch that runs along the path. Add Tail Fade so it fades out behind.
- Wire an Envelope into End and trigger it from audio to draw the shape out on every kick.
Tips
- Trim Path measures along the whole frame, in path order, and doesn't wrap around. Place it after a Merge to draw the merged shapes one after another, or on each branch before the Merge to draw them all at once.
- The Draw node has the same behavior built in as Progress and Trail.
